Basically, there’s a lot more out there on the web than I can provide you in our f2f class, so rather than pretend that I can drag you through all this content, I’ve decided to create a single unit where you get to choose what you learn and do. There are a bunch of different people who have influenced me to do this, Anya Kamenetz, author of DIY-U, Howard Rheingold, Open Educational Resources, and a number of other brilliant people who are trying to figure out how to improve education by using all of the tools and resources on the Internet.
Here’s what you do.
- Choose one one or two activities from the list below and turn them into turnitin.com as one document by the due date.
- To increase your final score, present your activities to your classmates. If you want to use slides, try out Google Docs.
- For extra credit, find your class under “Student Work” and post your assignment by replying to my page. A long list of student examples will then be available to my future students!
- Write a Personal Statement
- Design a Student Organization or Student Conference
- Explore Career Paths
- Research a Company, Agency, or Organization
- Watch Cutting Edge Ideas on TED Talks
- Research How to Become a Better Student
- Write a Letter
If you think that I need additional options, then please make a proposal to me, and I’ll consider it. If it’s a really good idea, I’ll add it to this list, and then I’ll give you some extra credit points, too!
I have read the DIY link of the author of the book by: Anya Kametez DIY: the education debt. Her link shows and explains on what did she wrote about and why did she wrote about this book. Also, she shares the idea of using/joining online forums, it can gives you an answer to your queries/ question whenever you may need it. Includes several websites and open forums you can be engaged while looking for the answer to you related question.
This information can be use in the future for a students research paper. In completing a research you may need several distinctive and credible resources. When you are just about to ask related questions for your topic. You can check this out for some of your probability related question that can be in your research.
I have read the article: good and bad procrastination by Paul Graham on the DYI website and what I liked about is that he talked about how you can turn bad procrastination to good procrastination. How it’s strictly impossible not to procrastinate, how you can procrastinate by doing it well. Three types of things people tend to do instead of getting there important work done is “(a) nothing (b) something less important (c) something more important.” This helped me notice what type procrastinator I am and I know it will help others know what type they are and how they could fix it. Also I took some assessment quizzes on the match your personality to your career. These quizzes helped me a lot, not only by seeing what career fits my personality best, but getting to see how many careers I fall in. I actually liked some of the careers that I got, and I’ve taken inconsideration on finding out more on them. You guys should try it. You might just find your career on this.
Hi, I watch a video on TED women, Madeleine Albright was the speaker.
She is a fantastic woman. I personally think she is briliant. Her 18 min were funny and sad at sometimes. With her I learn that women should help each other in many ways and believe in myself; i could achieve the same things, if i wanted. Read my pin she says.”there is a special place in hell for women that do not help each other”
TED can be usefull as a inspiration for the estudents that know what they want to study in the future.
TED has excelent speakers. I joined the TED community
